While the walls were open, we decided that now was the time to upgrade our single zone, 10 year old central air conditioning system and steam heat to a multi-zone, HVAC system. We had talked about doing this before, but wanted to wait until our AC was dead, or thereabouts. We’ve arrived.
So, as I know little about this, I called 4 HVAC Contractors and collected their bids and in the end, Margali and Flynn’s HVAC contractor, was among the least expensive and had the most experience. They immediately got to work and came back each day, until it was completed. Simultaneously, the electricians ran the necessary wires, Jimmy Cornell continued his framing and sheet rocking and the masons began to tile. It looked and felt like a well practiced orchestra.
So, not only will our old, rattling, central ac unit be upgraded to something cleaner, far more economical, ecologically friendly, but our steam heat will converted to a more efficient, multi zone, forced hot air solution as well!
I think it was a good investment to do this while the walls are open. Fingers crossed! I’ll keep you posted!
