Every January, I look back over the past year there is one constant that I can’t ignore: the time that I have with my kids is diminishing with each passing year.
Every year, they seem to get a little busier, a little more independent and they are physically home less often. Dinner really seems to be the only somewhat consistent thing we share together
So, I’ve noticed that on the evenings that I felt satisfied that we connected and enjoyed being together, were evenings that dinner was already made. I had only minimal work to do when the kids were actually present. That directly translates into me wanting to play with them and laugh with them, which is exactly what happens when I have time in the evenings.
Lesson of the day-make dinner early in the day and enjoy your family at dinnertime!
