Here we go again! The kids are having a ball playing in the snow, the roads are not plowed and probably won’t be for hours.
My closets are perfect, the laundry is done, the house is cleaned and I’ve got great leftovers for dinner (at least I think so).
That leaves me no choice: I’ll do my Taxes and be thrilled when it’s done. I actually look at it as proof of money coming back to my family.
So, all year, I stash all of my receipts into a big plastic, expandable envelope from Staples. The company Thirty-One sells a great one that has pockets on the outside for calculators, etc.
Here’s what to do:
Dump everything on the dining room table.
If you’ve got a checklist of things you need for the accountant, all the better, if not, forge right ahead, anyway! You’ll be saving yourself so much aggravation in April.
Organize the bills by vendor (Phone/Internet/Cable, Bank Statements, Electric, Gas, Car, etc.)
Use large binder clips to keep each stack together
Put it back in the folder and you’re done for today!
Took a little over an hour and I feel like I lost 5 lbs and who doesn’t love that?!
Now, I’ve got to get dressed in my ski clothes, take a broom and spend a couple of hours knocking snow off of my trees so they don’t break in half. As my kids pelt me with snowballs. Should be fun.
Whatever you do, take a moment to Enjoy it!
